Little did I know it would become the enthusiastic playplace for our two younger dogs, as well!This arrived densely vacuum-packed in a very heavy box. It weighs more than you think it will, so be prepared: this is a bit cumbersome! It is also wrapped in a bag, within another bag, within a THIRD bag, within a box, within another box and generates probably over ~100 square feet of thick plastic waste. It was so, SO unnecessary and made me really sad. I hope the manufacturer gets rid of that practice completely: the outer two plastic layers served absolutely no purpose (at least the cardboard is recyclable). Be advised it also takes a while to puff back up to its full thickness, and does give off an unpleasant chemical smell that dissipates after a day or two.Once we got this in place, it’s actually been a big hit with my pets. They like when we fold it up into a “tunnel” (pictured) they can burrow into or hop on top of to collapse it. When spread completely out, it’s a HUGE mat that covers a large area. It is very thick and cushy to lie on. This definitely makes floor play more comfortable! The material is soft and miky, very pleasant to touch, however I feel it would not be pleasant to clean. This is supposedly mildly water-resistant (I personally wouldn’t want to test that) but is spot-clean only, which is tough when you have kids, who are perpetually sticky. I cover this with an equally large waterproof blanket for my senior dog to lie on it.Overall, this is a really nice play mat. It’s thick, high-quality, and oh-so-soft. However, it’s also not easy to clean and is very wastefully triple-wrapped in plastic. I do not necessarily feel it merits the much higher price vs. other, similar mats I’ve seen.As always, this review is entirely my own, honest feedback based on my personal experience with this product. Your experience may differ. I will update it if my opinion on this product evolves over time.

Our Baby Lives on This Mat
I set this up in our living room for my six-month-old and it quickly became the center of our home. The 1.3-inch foam thickness was noticeably more cushioned than the thinner mats I had tried before — tummy time was much more comfortable and my baby was happier on it for longer stretches. The non-slip backing kept it firmly in place on our hardwood floors. The grey color was neutral and modern-looking, blending well with our living room decor instead of clashing like brightly colored mats often do. The tatami-style surface was easy to wipe clean, which I did multiple times daily. It was large enough that my toddler could also play on it alongside the baby. Assembly was simply unrolling it. A genuinely excellent baby purchase.
